We drove 624 Km to arrive at Karijini National Park at Hamersley Range; the straight road was interrupted by a section of undulating road and then became a vast rocky land covered with spinifex, changing from the red colour of the earth to a green and yellow. Some hills and the flight of Black Kites broke the monotony, keeping our attention active.

Manejamos 624 Km para llegar al Parque Nacional Karijini, en la cordillera de Hamersely, la línea recta fue interrumpida por un tramo de carretera ondulada y luego por un terreno rocoso cubierto de Spinifex, cambiando el color rojo de la tierra por una cubierta verde y amarilla. Algunas colinas y el vuelo de los Gavilan Negro, rompen la monotonía, manteniendo nuestra atención activa.

10 Km after taking the dirt road to Tom Price, the Nanutarra road, one of our tyres blew; we spent almost an hour switching to the spare, the level of the car was so low that we had to dig under it, in hard stony gravel, to place the jack. After that it was clear to us that it was not going to be possible to arrive at Karijini. Next day at 7:00 am in the industrial area of Tom Price we installed the new tyre and continued to our destination.

10 Km después de tomar una ruta destapada hacia Tom Price, por Nanutarra, una de nuestras llantas se estalló, gastamos cerca de 1 hora cambiándola, el carro quedó tan bajo que nos tocó escabar bajo el carro para acomodar el gato apropiadamente. Después de esto fue claro que no llegaríamos a Karijini, El siguiente día a las 7:00 am in la zona industrial de Tom Price instalamos la nueva llanta y continuamos nuestro destino.

En Karijini, there are five areas to explore; based on their geographical location, we visited four of them simply because the fifth was so far from where were starting: Weano Gorge area, the Joffre and Knox Gorges, Kalamina Gorge and falls, and the Dales and Gamer Smith gorges.

En Karijini hay 5 áreas para explorar, con base en su localización geográfica. Visitamos cuatro de ellas porque una está localizada lejos de nuestra ruta de llega y salida: el cañon de Weano, los cañones de Joffre y Know, la cascada de Kalamina y su cañon y los cañones de Dales y Gamer Smith.

The area of Weano Gorge offers access to a 4 different gorges, all of them with demanding descent, narrow passes and pools, all of them very enjoyable to climb and walk, and also to play with the light. The tracks are not long and the difficulty of access is varied. At the end of the day we were exhausted and we were able to recognize new marks in our bodies.

El área del Cañon de Weano, ofrece acceso a 4 diferentes cañones, todos ellos tienen descenso exigentes, pasos estrechos, algunas piscinas y en todos fue muy agradables de trepar y caminar. Los senderos no son largos y la dificultad de acceso es variable. Al final del día estábamos exhaustos y podíamos reconocer nuevas marcas en nuestros cuerpos.

The gorges of Joffre and Knox were very challenging to access. Knox gorge has a dramatic track to go down to the river and then beautiful views while we were crossing over the river to arrive at a very narrow chasm where the track ends. This walk challenged all our limits, and at the end we were so tired that we decided to postpone walking down to the base the Joffre Gorge, which demands a lot of jumping on the cliff, and enjoyed the view from the lookout point.

Los cañones de Joffre y Knox fueron desafiantes en su acceso. El Cañon de Knox, tiene un camino dramático para llegar al río, luego bellas imágenes mientras cruzábamos el río hasta llegar un chasm en donde el sendero termina. Esta caminara desafió todos nuestro limites y al final estábamos tan cansados que decidimos posponer el descenso del cañon Joffre, porque demandaba muchos saltos, y disfrutamos la vista desde el mirador.

Kalamina Gorge and falls offers a long and pleasant walk in a wider gorge, we walked trough the base crossing the river several times, until reaching a pool with a window formation in one of the walls. We jumped into the pool, it was cold, but good to overcome all our body pains. After a short swim, we started on our way back, absolutely energised and happy. Arriving at the campsite fatigue took the control, so we used our precooked meal to have an easy hot dinner; after that only an early night was possible.

La catarata de Kalamina y su cañon amplio nos ofrecieron un larga y placentera caminata, ca mini nos a través de la base cursando el rio en diferentes momentos, hasta llegar a un piscina en donde en uno de los muros se ha formado una ventana natural. Saltamos a la piscina, estaba helada, pero rica para esconder todo nuestros dolores corporales. Después de nadar por corto tiempo, iniciamos el camino de regreso, absolutamente energizados y felices. Llegamos al campamento y la fatiga tomo el control, así que usamos la comida pre-cocida para proveernos una comida fácil y caliente, después de la cual un noche temprana en la cama fue lo único posible.

Dales gorge was a great experience, a lot more accessible than the previous ones, has more trees in the river route, beautiful lagoons flowing east, amazing rock formations full of texture and natural asbestos fibre in the rock.

El cañon de Dales fue una gran experiencia, mucho mas accesible que los anteriores, tiene mas arboles en la base del rio, bellas lagunas en el rio que fluye hacia el este, impresionantes formaciones rocosas llenas de textura y fibras naturales on the rock.

Fern pool, circular pool ,and the pool in Fortescue Falls, are places with singular beauty. In circular pool, there is a mix of vegetation which gives a sense of fresh air, the amphitheatre is impressive and it is possible to see the source of water coming from the rocks. Fortescue Falls has a magnificent exposure of dark and clear red banded rocks, which create a colosseum following the soft drop of water and a pristine pool with dark turquoise water; and finally, the Fern Pool is simply refreshing in all senses, the pool is a sacred place so all guests are invited to be silent, to refrain from jumping into the water, and to enjoy; we were swimming there after our circuit, the water was cold, but soon we could enjoy different temperatures, and the water in the falls was warm.

La piscina de los helechos, la piscina circular y la piscina a la base de la catarata de Fortescue, son lugares con una belleza singular. La Piscina Circular, tiene una mezcla de vegetación que imprime un sentido de aire fresco, el anfiteatro es impresionante y es posible ver el manantial de agua, fluyendo por la roca. La catarata de Fortescue tiene una magnifica pared de roca expuesta con bandas rojizas claras y oscuras, que crean un coliseo siguiendo el flujo del agua, que se complementa con la piscina de aguas turquesa oscuras. Finalmente, La Piscina de los Helechos, es simplemente, refrescante en todos los sentidos, la piscina es un lugar sagrado, así que todos los visitantes son invitados a estar en silencio, no saltar en el agua y disfrutar, nadamos allí después de nuestro circuito, al agua estaba fría, pero pronto pudimos disfrutar diferentes temperaturas y el agua en la catarata estaba cálida.

At night the light of the moon and the clear sky captured our attention, but when the temperature dropped we jumped in to the car to enjoy our rest and the satisfaction of having explored this destination.
En la noche, la luz de la luna y el cielo estrellado nos distrajeron, pero cuando la temperatura bajo, nosotros saltamos a la cama a disfrutar nuestro descanso y la satisfacción de explorar este destino.

Amé las fotografías de las rocas. Me pude quedar mirando por horas el rojo vivo y las lajas de cada roca dividida. Me sorprende cómo es que se mantienen unidas a través del tiempo cuando parecen tan frágiles. Igual, cuando el reflejo en el agua era tan claro me sorprendía no solo la luz sino el detalle. Hermoso.
ReplyDeleteAle este es uno de nuestros destinos favoritos, volver a él sera siempre una opción, aún necesitamos fotografiar una paloma que solo vimos aquí. y queda una quinta parte del parque por visitar.
